The Marine Bioproducts CRC has taken a major step onto the global stage, uniting with European leaders Iceland Ocean Cluster, Matís Iceland, and Nofima by executing three Memorandum of Understandings.
Together, these make up the Marine Bioproducts Collaboration Memorandum of Understandings (MBC-MOUs), landmark collaborations that cement Australia’s growing influence in a marine bioproducts industry projected to exceed US$700 billion by 2035.
The MBC-MOUs build on momentum from the Marine Bioproducts CRC’s European Mission earlier this year, which showcased how closely aligned Australia and Europe are in science, innovation, and purpose.
The new agreements open pathways for collaboration across research, technology, commercialisation, policy, and education, including international training clusters and exchange programs linking Australian researchers with world-leading marine bioproduct pioneers.
Daniel E. Abrahams, CEO of the Marine Bioproducts CRC, said the MBC-MOU reflects a powerful shift toward global cooperation.

The agreements also complement the expanding Global Sister Ocean Cluster Network led by the Iceland Ocean Cluster, which connects innovators across the United States, Namibia, and Denmark.
With the MBC-MOUs now in place, the Marine Bioproducts CRC will move swiftly to bring these collaborations to life by advancing joint research, knowledge exchange initiatives, and commercialisation opportunities that position Australia at the forefront of the global marine bioproducts revolution.
